We spent an entire morning driving through the 11 mile loop called
Cade's Cove, the most popular part of Smoky Mountain National Park. We saw wild turkeys right away.
"It's a self-guided tour of historic homesteads, preserved structures, and churches. Mountain vistas, beautiful pastureland, abundant wildlife, and a visitor’s center allow the visitor a real feel for what it was like for the early settlers to the area." (I copied that section from their website) There are paths off the loop along the way where you can park and hike up through historical buildings. We did stop and do a short hike with the kids.

This was pretty neat, a little shed built over the stream in order to collect water for the farm. Hollowed out trees were used to transport the water.

We looked up ahead at one point and noticed Trent and Leah holding hands, completely unprovoked. So sweet! They're good buddies.
We were told before visiting this area of the park that it's likely you'll see some bears. So, we kept an eye out the entire time. We saw several deer and turkey, but hadn't come
across any bears. Just as we were finishing the loop, we spotted a family near a river.
So, that completes our tour!

Jen, it looks like you guys had a great time. I was in TN for a work related conference at the end of April/beginning of May. A group of us took an execursion to Cade's Cove one evening after our sessions were over. It's so beautiful!
Wow--I can't believe you saw some bears! I'm glad you got a picture of them. That looks like a really neat place with so many different things to see. I love the picture of Trent and Leah holding hands. How precious!
